Though cannabidiol (CBD) can now be purchased in a variety of preparations, it is most commonly available in oil form. CBD oil is the product of the cannabidiol which is extracted from the hemp plant, mixed with a carrier oil. In this blog, we’ll go through the variety of processes involved in producing our CBD oil.

How CBD oil is manufactured: Hemp, where it all starts

When considering how CBD oil is manufactured, naturally, it all begins with the hemp plants – or the hemp seed, in fact! Our hemp plants are carefully selected, which is grown organically in fertile Californian soil. These plants are proven stock of ‘industrial hemp’, which his known to contain high levels of CBD and very low levels of THC. Our hemp is grown using the natural goodness of the sun and earth only, with no added pesticides, herbicides, or chemicals of any kind. This is the first, key step in providing our customers with the purest, highest quality CBD oil.

The extraction

If you were to perform a quick search on how CBD oil is manufactured, you would likely find that there are various methods of extracting the cannabinoid compounds from the hemp plant.

Different companies will have different preferred methods. For many, it unfortunately comes down to the dollar, using inferior extraction methods that may leave contaminants, residues and by-products in their final product.

At Transcending Organics, our CBD is extracted via the CO2 method. This is also sometimes referred to as the supercritical carbon dioxide method. This method involves placing the hemp inside a chamber, which is then filled with carbon dioxide. Pressure is then applied to the chamber, turning the carbon dioxide gas into liquid, which absorbs the oils and terpenes from the plant. The resulting liquid is a combination of carbon dioxide and CBD. The next step of the process returns the carbon dioxide back into gas, separating the good stuff for collection.

We choose to use this method of extraction as it is extremely safe and effective, and produces a pure product without contaminants.

Testing for a quality product

The process of how CBD oil is manufactured doesn’t end there. Testing is an important part of our manufacturing process. It gives us, and you – our customers, peace of mind in our product. We invest in testing every batch of CBD in an independent laboratory. We are proudly transparent when it comes to our results, and you can find the latest certificate of analysis (COA) for any product on the individual product pages on our website. Alternatively, feel free to email us for a copy.

Preparing the final product

Many companies add ingredients to their CBD oil, whether that be to improve its taste or perhaps to enhance its properties. At Transcending Organics, we are proud to produce natural, organic, full-spectrum, CBD oils, free from anything artificial.

We choose to use organic hemp seed oil as our carrier oil, naturally complimenting our full spectrum CBD. When using hemp seed oil as a carrier, there is the potential to attenuate the ‘entourage effect’. This basically means, that by combining different parts of the plant to produce one product, it may make each component more effective than it otherwise would be alone. We believe this produces the most natural and holistic form of CBD oil, which in turn provides the user with the maximal potential benefits possible.

Transcending Organics produces a premium, organic product
